Stable environment

Recently we were given an opportunity to carry a full lineup of embroidery stabilizers and supplies.  With our new emphasis on promoting our embroidered gifts, this new addition seems to make a lot of sense.  Fellow embroiderers who have a home machine, will now be able to buy stabilizers in smaller lot sizes so that they can test out a stabilizer without purchasing a large amount.

The Cotwold Industries brand of stabilizers is widely recognized as a leader in the embroidery industry.  In general terms:

Cutaway stabilizers are great choice for designs which have medium to heavy stitch counts.

Tearaway stabilizers are great choice for designs which have light to medium stitch counts.

Water Soluble stabilizers are great choice for design in which one doesn't want fiber stabilizer residue such as in free standing lace designs.

Fusible stabilizers are great choice for fabrics with stretch (such as knits and t-shirts).

Mesh stabilizers are great choice moderately dense designs but which need to have a soft, drape.  For designs of heavier density, use 2 pieces of stabilizer with "grains" running in opposite direction.

Specialty items include Cloud Cover often used on the back of embroidery work to keep threads from scratching delicate or sensitive skin.   Thermal Stick adehesive backed stabilizer is great for applique work.

There are many part to a good embroidery design and proper stabilization is key to a good finished project.  Without a good foundation, a great design may not be achieved.

Making Lemonade
Many have heard the old saying:  "When life gives you lemons...make lemonade."  Well at Sew Many Paws, we have lemonade flowing freely these days.

As anyone who has tried to run a business and also work a full-time job, the task is quite daunting.  Making sure family doesn't get shorted only adds to the challenge.  Toss in the tough economy lately and you have a recipe for stress.  If you add in a pet that has a terminal disease like our dog Nosey's lymphosarcoma, then you can truly say that we know what operating a business in the face of adversity means.

Well earlier this month, life thru us another lemon.  My full time job was eliminated.  After working for 28 years at one company, this turn of events came as a big shock.  Getting downsized happens to the "other guys" not to me - at least that's what I thought until about a week and a half ago.

Now we could moan and groan about this turn of events but we are looking at this as God answering our prayers for guidance in our lives.  Having recently upgraded our embroidery equipment to a commercial duty machine, we were poised to expand the embroidery part of Sew Many Paws business.  The trouble was that when also working a full time job - there just wasn't enough hours in the day to expand the Sew Many Paws business.

We have a great opportunity now to add new embroidery supplies to our product lineup.  With this new category, we plan to offer affordable embroidery supplies for both the home embroiderer and other small home-based embroidery businesses.  We feel that our Charitable Gift Giving program will also appeal to other embroiderers who may also be animal lovers.

With our business (and our dog Nosey) being featured in the Stitches magazine's upcoming "Overcoming Adversity", we hope to find many new clients who will share our mission that:

Every Day is a Gift. How you use that gift is up to you.  Use it wisely!  And have a little lemonade on us.
