Embroidered Towels & Bath Accessories
Recently we've been making therapy dog vests & bandanas for a volunteer group in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
This has been a great program to give all the volunteer dogs a unified look. Prior to this, the vests & bandanas
used were a wide variety of colors, styles and did not include the health care system's logo. Now the dogs are able
to wear logo'd apparel to show that they too - not just their owners - are MHS volunteers.
We did, however, run
into a situation where a dog's coat did not lend itself to wearing a vest or bandana. Pekingese, as we all know, have
very long luxurious coats. Volunteers Wally and Beau wanted something that would help them show their support but not
mess up their long coats. Their owner, therefore, requested an embroidered towel that could be used as a "show
pad" for their therapy visits.
Embroidering towels, bath accessories (such as rugs, seat covers, robes,
etc.) and other long nap items require a special method to insure that the nap doesn't "poke through" the design
initially and also after several washings. For Wally & Beau's towel, we used a tear-away, wash-away stabilizer on
the back, with a layer of tulle and wash-away topping. The tulle will help to keep the nap from poking thru even after
repeated washings.
Embroidered towels, robes and other bath accessories make great Mother's Day gifts and are a
great way to make your gift one-of-a-kind which will be treasured for years to come.
